Today, I want to speak to about something that’s been on my heart…
I recently saw one of my clients post in our I Heart Coaching Facebook group that for a long time, she’s avoided Pinterest. Not because she found it overwhelming or because she didn’t have time to hop on, but because it depressed her that she couldn’t have the things she saw on the site.
She thought the same thing about trips she wanted to take – for example Paris seemed out of the question for her.
Can you relate? I know I can…
A few years ago, I was in Chicago for my best friend’s bachelorette weekend. We stayed at her cousin’s brand new beautiful house in the city. She was only a few years older than us, so of course, I did the comparison thing.
When I walked in and saw the brand new modern kitchen with the beautiful West Elm decorations and fresh flowers in vintage glass bottles on the sink, I couldn’t understand why I was nowhere near owning something similar.
Why I was still struggling? Why I was still in that closet sized apartment trying to figure out how to be happy? Why did she get the life I wanted?
Not a great place to be, and I pretty much let it ruin my weekend.
There were also weeks where I had to avoid Facebook and anyone on there who seemed to be living the life I so badly wanted.
Ick.
Over the past few years, I’ve woken up to the reality that that mindset and avoiding my desires won’t actually get me what I want, and I’ve discovered which thoughts will make my big dreams come true…
The mindset required to make big dreams happen is the belief that what you desire is meant for you and that you can have it – and soon!
You see, your thoughts and words create your reality, lovely, so you have to focus on what it is that you do want in order to get it – not avoid it.
As you’ve heard me say, your dream life isn’t going to happen by you laying in bed eating cookie dough, watching re-runs of The Office, avoiding Pinterest, and thinking about how much your life sucks. (I should know, I tried it.) You have to take action and believe that nothing is impossible…
So don’t tell me a trip to Paris is too expensive, not meant for you or something that needs to wait. If you desire it, it’s possible for you! Make your desires non-negotiable, believe, and take action!
(And by the way, every time I’ve been to Charles de Gaulle Airport or Gare du Nord they’ve been packed with travelers. There are thousands of people who visit Paris every day. They are not princesses or billionaires; they are like you and me!)
So today, my dream for you is to really go there and list out your top 5 desires for the next 90 days (or even the next year if you want to take it that far) and the steps you need to take to make them happen.
Don’t censor yourself, just give in to what’s in your heart.
And just to make this even more fun and give you even more accountability, send the list of 5 things over to me.
You are meant for big things and all of your desires.
And so it is, lovely.
