7 Struggles I’m Working Through (And How I’m Moving Through Them)

woman pouring coffee

Like so many around the world, I’ve been completely captivated by Simone Biles and everything she has achieved in her gymnastics career. Watching her win the gold for her second all-around just the other day was so powerful and truly reminded me that anything is possible.

But it’s not just her athletic feats that leave me in awe. I’m also incredibly inspired by her bravery in sharing the realities of her mental health journey. She’s bringing much-needed awareness to the importance of mental well-being, and I’m so grateful she’s doing this—especially through her new Netflix documentary.

One moment that really resonated with me in the documentary was Simone’s raw honesty about the struggles she faced, particularly when she decided to pull out of the Tokyo Olympics four years ago. She spoke about crying in a closet and feeling like she couldn’t even look at her leotard, all while worrying about the judgment she might face from the world. She also opened up about the trauma she experienced from abuse at the hands of her gymnastics coach.

Though I don’t have the same platform as Simone, I can relate to her willingness to be vulnerable. In fact, I’m about to release new podcast and YouTube episodes that touch on some of my own vulnerable moments. It’s not always easy to be open about struggles, but I’m embracing it because I know it can help others—and myself—in the process.

Today, I thought I’d take a moment to share a few things I’ve been personally struggling with lately and how I’m working through them. I know I’m not alone in these challenges, so if any of this resonates with you, I hope it helps.

1. Anxiety

Anxiety has been a big thing I’ve been working through over the last few years, especially after having my daughter. It’s something I’m opening up about more in my upcoming podcast episodes. A coach once told me that anxiety is like a spotlight shining on something that needs attention. Instead of resisting it or making it wrong, I’m learning to sit with it, be present with the emotions, and acknowledge them. Surprisingly, this has helped me move through it much more quickly.

2. Taking on Too Much at Once

I don’t know about you, but I have a tendency to pile on a million tasks at once. While some people have the superpower of focusing on one thing until it’s done, I tend to think about all the things simultaneously—and, let’s be real, it usually leads to overwhelm.

How I’m working on it: My business coach is great at reminding me to focus on the present moment and finish what’s currently in front of me before jumping to the next big idea. Surrounding myself with people who think differently than me has been incredibly helpful, too. I’m a visionary with lots of ideas, and I need people in my life who can help me hone in on the details and keep me on track.

3. The Feeling of Being Robbed

This is something I recently uncovered in a somatic healing session with one of my coaches. I realized I’ve been holding onto a sense that certain important moments and experiences were taken from me—like I didn’t get what I wanted or deserved.

How I’m working on it: This is still fresh, and I’m still processing it. I’m learning to look for the gifts that came from those challenging experiences. I believe that the Law of Polarity teaches us that for every difficult moment, there’s also something valuable to take away from it.

4. Emotional Eating

The last few months have been intense. Between moving to a new state, adjusting to a new business model, and handling all the logistics that come with those changes, stress has definitely crept in.

How I’m working on it: In the past, I’ve leaned on carbs and sweets to cope with stress, but I gave that up last year. Lately, I’ve found myself reaching for peanut butter and cashews (random, I know!). I’m bringing awareness back to my eating habits by pausing to ask myself if I’m actually hungry before I reach for food. And as always, staying hydrated is a priority!

5. The Balance Between Being a Mom and Running a Business

As a working mom, I often find myself torn between wanting to spend more time with my daughter and fulfilling my professional responsibilities. I work from home, so I get to see her a lot more than most parents, but I still find myself wishing for more quality time with her.

How I’m working on it: This is a new awareness for me, and I haven’t fully figured out the balance yet. But I’m blessed to have the flexibility to decide how I spend my time and what business model works for my family. I’m sure there are other parents out there who feel the same way, so I’m just sharing my journey as I figure it out.

6. What to Use on My Face to Protect My Skin and Keep It Looking Youthful

Okay, this one is a champagne problem, but I’ll share it anyway. I’m turning 40 next year, and there are so many skincare procedures, products, and recommendations that it’s overwhelming.

How I’m working on it: To be honest, I don’t have any great answers for this one, but I’m open to tips! If you have any suggestions on how to protect your skin and keep it youthful, send them my way. 😂

7. A Changing Industry

The online space is evolving quickly. What worked even a few years ago isn’t necessarily working now, and I’m seeing that firsthand in my businesses. It can be exhausting to try to keep up with it all, but I’m embracing the change.

How I’m working on it: I’m learning new skills and adapting quickly. I’m lucky to have an amazing business coach who helps me navigate the changes, and I’m part of a peer mastermind that’s been incredibly supportive. Staying open to new ways of doing things is key, and I’m not getting stuck in my old habits.

So there you have it—seven things I’m currently working through. I wanted to share these because I know I’m not alone in these struggles.

Do any of these resonate with you? Or have you found your own ways to navigate some of these challenges? Let me know what stood out to you. I truly want to hear your thoughts!
