Inspiration

That time when no one bought my $250 course

I hosted my first in-person workshop in July 2014.

Guess how many people attended…

20? 30? 10?

Nope…6!

The workshop was held in a tiny Lululemon pop-up shop in London. (This was before Lululemon had officially been brought over from America to the UK, and they were just testing it. It was literally the size of a studio apartment, It fit a few rows of clothes, a table and had a small space for a few people to do yoga. See below….)

That day, I had no idea what I was doing.

I didn’t know how to host a workshop or teach. In fact, one of the attendees didn’t know we’d be doing a mini yoga session and ended up in downward dog in jeans because I forgot to tell her!

I had a lot to learn…

Looking back on that day and the early days of building a business, I was flying by the seat of my pants and had one driver: desire.

The desire for things to be different. To transform my life. To change other’s lives. To make more money. To one day host an event with thousands of people in the audience. But I was nowhere near that place.

Can you relate, lovely?

Especially when it comes to sales and making money in your business — it requires a whole leap of faith.

It requires trial and error. It requires showing up even when you’re in Chapter 1 with 6 people in the room teaching them about the life wheel and talking your husband into printing out tons of graphics for you at his work so you don’t have to pay for printing. (See below!)

But we all start somewhere, lovely.

And you have to decide whether you continue to hold the vision of what you desire, or if you believe what your current reality is telling you.

For example, in that packet you see above, the back page contained information about the four week course I put together to sell to the ladies in attendance. It was £199/$250.

No one bought it.

In that moment, lovely, I could have given up, I could have thrown in the towel, allowed that to be an indication that this wasn’t for me or I wasn’t meant to do this, but instead, I kept going.

Learning how to host events, sell my programs, show up on video, write a sales email, help people go from a “not yet” to a “heck yes” on a sales call — I had to learn everything.

And thank goodness I did, because literally a year later, I’d create over $500,000 in sales in my business!

So if you’re in that place today — whether you’re going to the next level or starting from scratch, honor the process and know that we’ve all been beginners.

You can do this. You can get the results you desire. You can make an impact. Your current reality is not an indication of what’s possible or meant for you. Your desires are.

Just keep going, lovely!
