Not Exactly The Bathroom You Imagined…

Have you ever had one of those moments where you look around and you realize that your life simply doesn’t look anything like what you’d imagined it would by this point?

I know I certainly have…

In fact, it was only a few years back that I remember sitting in my tiny, closet-sized apartment shortly after I’d moved to London that I had one of those moments myself realizing that my reality didn’t look like what I’d planned…

I was past my mid-twenties, and I was stuck in what felt like a never-ending quarter-life crisis. I was up to my ears in debt, and I remember wondering how I’d ever get all my student loans and credit cards paid off. I was working for a meager salary in a job that wasn’t up to my potential. I was living in the tiniest, cheapest apartment I could find in West London (I had my standards of living in Kensington but it meant getting a TINY place. See the flashback photos below –I spent a good few hours hunting these down for you!)

I remember thinking it would take me years and years – maybe even decades – to get the money I needed to even be able to think about going after my dreams.

Not exactly the life (or the bathroom) I’d imagined.

I remember how frustrating it was to know inside that I was meant for more – more fulfillment, more abundance, more ability to give to my family and friends, more purpose – but to feel stuck because of my financial situation.

I was basically at a total loss for how to make any progress toward my dreams. So finally, at the end of my wits, I reached out to a coach – a huge financial investment for me at the time. But I knew I had to do something.

It was then, joining that group program, that I began to realize that what was keeping me stuck wasn’t necessarily about money (or lack thereof) – it was about a deeper, underlying perspective. It was about thoughts within my own mind that weren’t serving me.

I’d been focusing on the lack. I’d been honing in on the negative. I’d been living in a state of frustration about how my life had turned out. I had no longer been allowing myself to see all the possibility that younger, dreamier, more positive Emily once saw. I’d been okay with waiting for my life to start instead of realizing it was happening now.

It was a sad place to be, really. And if you’ve ever been in that place or are in it now, I know it feels tough.

But lovely,  I can assure you that you have the power to take action and shift your relationship with money for the better – and transform life for yourself and for your loved ones in the process.

When I learned that I had the power to control my thoughts, to shape my story, to dream big again – particularly when it came to my goals and my potential for abundance and financial success – it was truly a revelation for me.

I began soaking in everything I could when it came to money mindset, flipping the switch on my thoughts, and creating a perspective that supported me and my goals, rather than working against them.

I was able to make a massive shift in my own mindset and perspectives (especially about money and success), which laid the foundation for my now 7-figure business and helped propel me into the life that I’d been desiring for so long.

I’ve come a long way from being that frustrated, quarter-life crisis woman living in a shoebox-size apartment, wondering when things would ever get better. I’m now living the life that my younger self had imagined. I’m running a business that’s impacting lives. I’m able to give generously to my friends and family financially. I’m able to travel and do work that resonates with me.

I’m living the kind of life I knew deep down I had the potential to create. And I have more space! Here’s a sneak peek inside our current 6-bedroom home in London when we hosted a dinner party for 13 friends and family — complete with a private chef…

And in case you’re wondering, this is now my bathroom…

And lovely, you have that same potential within you to create the kind of life you truly desire.

You have the ability to transform your financial situation by shifting your mindset around money.

After going through such a powerful transformation in my own life in terms of my mindset and my relationship with money, I’m now super passionate about helping other women do the same.

In fact, money is now one of my favorite topics to talk about. After all, with money being such a crucial part of what it takes to make our dreams our realities, why wouldn’t we talk about money and work on creating a healthier relationship with it?

So lovely, if you’re feeling stuck – financially or otherwise – what’s one action you can take this week to start getting momentum and begin making a shift? Who do you need to reach out to for help? What’s at least one small step you can take?

Your dreams are so worth the effort it takes to make a massive shift in your relationship with money. You’re worth it. Your family’s worth it. And you deserve to live the kind of life you know in your heart you’re capable of living.

It’s time to dream big again, lovely! You can do this.
