I’m coming to you from Paris! James and I celebrated my 30th birthday yesterday, and it was truly magical!
We started with breakfast at Le Meurice (click to see my Periscope from the gorgeous room!) and finished with literally the best meal of our lives at Le Cinq in The Four Seasons George V where my husband made me feel like a total Queen.
I don’t know about you, but there are always a few things that come up on my birthday. One of which is evaluating my true desires and what I want for my life going forward. I journal every year and write down where I’m at and where I want to be.
For so long, I was waiting to live the life I wanted. I knew I’d be successful, but I had resigned to the fact that it would happen someday in the future.
After about five years of that way of thinking, that “someday” got really old.
Now, James and I subscribe to the belief that if it’s humanly possible and something we truly desire, then it’s meant for us and possible – not far off in the future.
Aren’t gorgeous dresses that make you feel beautiful, trips to your favourite places, getting to wake up in the morning and work from your laptop, (and elaborate cheese boards!) meant for you if that’s what you want?
You get to decide.
For so long, even after I had money to buy some new clothes, I told myself I didn’t have the need for long dresses. I thought, “Where would I ever wear that?”, and I squashed the desire.
However, this summer, there was one that I couldn’t resist, so I bought it. Let me tell you, I’m going to keep dressing up! I’m going to wear clothes that make me feel beautiful all the time from here on out. Why not?!
There’s something really powerful about a woman living her truth and the life that she wants.
Maybe for you, you’re sick of waiting to move forward towards your dreams. You’re waiting to take leap. You’re denying what you really want and how you want to live your life.
You get to decide. You get to evaluate your desires. Your life is your life.
I’m over worrying about what people think (more on that next week), and I want to live my one life on my terms, don’t you?
So even if it’s not your birthday today, I’d encourage you to take a few minutes to write out your true desires and then take it another step further and write what action you need to take to get there.
Anything is possible, lovely. Believe it. Birthday wishes can come true…
