This week I had an epiphany: I can do it all, but not all at once.
Going back home never really feels like a vacation for me because I always have a million things on my list and so many people I want to see and catch up with.
This trip was no different and was especially busy because it was the one week I could help my sister with wedding to-do’s in person.
On Friday (with two more full days left in Ohio) I woke up with the goal of finishing this newsletter, putting my sister’s invites together, working on a massive side project and a few other smaller tasks.
The moment I looked outside, I knew those plans had to be put on hold. It was 75 degrees and perfectly sunny; the pool was calling!
Most of the time, our fast-paced lives leave little time for rest, but it’s so important to remember just how vital free time and taking a break truly is.
I’m all for being productive and having a schedule, but following your heart on the days where that To Do List really needs to be put in a drawer (even if it’s for a few hours) is paramount to your health and success.
For me, I’m learning to prioritize and discern what really needs to happen each day for me to be happy, reach my goals and feel at peace. I knew that Friday was going to be one of my only pool days for 2014 and that I would regret not making that happen for myself. I knew that those few hours would help me recharge and actually be more productive the rest of the day.
So this week, remember that you can do it all, but not at once. Pace yourself and listen to what your body and your heart is telling you. Life is now and this is it. What do you really want to do?
And as always, I’d love to hear from you! Did this resonate? Feel free to comment with your thoughts. And if you want to master this, let’s chat! Click here.
